Learn to Ski
If you just start to learn to ski, you might want to take some lessons from a certified instructor. If you want to self learn, you can start from learning how to glide forward, turn around and get up after a fall. When you glide fowrad, keep skis flat and use the poles only for directions. To turn around while standing still, imagine the skis are the hands of a clock. You’re facing toward twelve o’clock. Pivot one ski by lifting the tip and turning it to two o’clock. Keep the tail down and put your ski down flat on the snow. Then pivot the other ski in the same way until the skis are paralle. When you fall, remember to go sideways so you hit the snow and not the skis. To get up after a fall, roll onto your side or your back and get your skis untangled. If you’re on a slope, make sure your skis are below you and at right angles to the fall line. Scrunch your butt close to your skis and roll onto your knees. Push up with your poles and keep your weight forward and angled uphill.
