Telemarking combines the rush of spedding downhill with the freedom of freeheel skiing. Unlike the regular ski bindings, telemark bindings allow the heel to life, which makes it much easier to go uphill. Usually you can use cross-country skis for telemarking. Now more and more telemarking skis look more like regular alpine ski gear. The telemark skis are wider than cross country, with metal edges into the snow for greater control in the turns.
